Pilchards are known as the Blue Pilchard, Pilly, Sardine, Blue-bait, Mullies. The Pilchard will entice any number of fish to bite ( inshore estuary and reef fishing), its best to keep pilchard frozen until rigged, as this will prolong the life of the bait in the water and if possible attach to hook another piece of squid as this will help keep it on the hook during casting. Pilchards are an oily fish and this attracts Snapper, Jewfish, Coral Trout, Cobia, Red Emperor, Trevally, Queen-fish, Mangrove Jack, Cod.
